“The starting point of our work is not being obstructed, but what the person wants, but how to develop him/her and to help their course of life” (M. Bruckmüller)

Every person is equal in humanity, and every person - be disabled, or not – is predestined to make use of his/her personality, talent and presents. Accepting and respecting each other provides an opportunity of freedom, in which we could become brave to present our inner values.

Gábor Bárdus

Gábor Bárdus caricaturist

The caricatures of Gábor Bárdus – with his own words – give the essence of life. The creations, often spiced with self-irony, allows the visitor to have a peek in the everyday life of people living with disabilities from the viewpoint of the concerned. It teaches the viewer sometimes with astonishing objectivity, at others with annoying detail the perhaps till now unidentified understanding of being disabled.

With the right to life he would perhaps invite us with “Now what’s up chum? You better fasten your belt!”

I already liked to draw in primary school. But since I wasn't a special talent, nobody supported me. The "drawin mania" was satisfied ba scrawls and decorating the files and exerise-books. My manual skill was turned to creating other "useful" things. I did a lot of embroidery, knitting, crocheting, etc. I learned nearly all kinds of textile based needlework, and using these I created several useful articles....

Live, as possible - advized the peasant writer Pál Szabó, in a system, which was restricted by ideology, and the actions were controlled. Independant from the system, because of the suffered damageging cerebral haemorrhage during my birth I lived according to this advice, how could my painting be an exeption from this. I couldn't fuss with the conventions of this art form....
